Stocking Swap 2010

So, I'm sure I keep talking about this Stocking Swap and some people are like "WTF where's the stuff she made she promised to show?!" And honestly... I just kept forgetting...

I was super proud of this... My mom did the black and white part, because I don't have a sewing machine, but I did the red piece (handsewn to the stocking) and then the handsewn bats to the red piece. I enjoy how it came out, a lot actually...

(This is my partner's picture, not mine...)

I think I posted this awhile ago, but damn am I proud of how it came out... A button embroidery, winter style! I always love how the trees are so barren, but beautifully frost covered...

I made a DuranDuran record bowl for her. And then found a bunch of Harry Potter recipes. I designed the booklet in InDesign and printed it at home. It's all grayscale pictures inside and some I couldn't find pictures for... However, I did like how it came out!

Ribbon bookmark in purple and green Halloween ribbons.

They are super simple and super fun to make. I think I sent two or three...

This is all the stuff I bought for the swap, for her or her daughter.

Two things of lipbalm from JoAnne fabrics, one set of arrow post-its for her daughter, knitting for dummies, cross-stitch "Good Luck Bear" ornament kit, Nightmare Before Christmas stocking, Nightmare Before Christmas figure set, a NinjaTown figure... Oh, Kerroppi buttons... I think that's it...

The List!

I'm pretty much going to be amazing this weekend for Christmas.
I'm making a bunch of stuff...
Chocolate covered marshmallows
Chocolate almond bark
Chocolate covered brownies
Chocolate chip bacon cookies

Because that sounds absolutely amazing, right? In a little gift bag... And of course chocolates from a mold. Nom.

Unfortunately, I left all my little candy gift bags at my apartment in Indy... Hmm... I'll be going to get those tomorrow...

If you want one mailed to you, if I have extras, let me know! I'll seriously send some your way! I love sharing things I make, 'cause I hardly eat them and my dad's diabetic so I don't like leaving them around the house unsupervised.

My Amortentia

I'm either having the WORST sinus attack ever or I have a cold. Crap.

Anyway, I found this on a forum and decided I liked the topic enough to post.

Amortentia is the most powerful love potion in the Harry Potter Universe. In case you need a quick refresher, the smell of the potion depends entirely on what the person smelling it likes. So far, I have determined that mind would consist of:

  • ink
  • earth (I love the smell of wet dirt and nature)
  • the moment before a giant rainstorm
  • old, dusty books (like an old library)
Pretty much, I love the smell of an environmental nerd. =P We shall see just how well that works out for me eventually, huh?
Now, what's your Amortentia?

Final Piece for Electronic Design

This is my final project for Electronic Design.
I wanted it to fit inside of a pocket, so I constructed it out of an Altoid tin.

Yeah, it's wrapped with giftwrap paper. What of it? I'm not done.
I'm going to modge-modge it with better paper and actually make the business card out of cardstock... And it'll fit into cuts I make into the top of the Altoids box... Oh, I'll have time to finish it, at least...

The box open. Not really beautiful work, but I'll be modgepodging it to death later, I just wanted a rather quick and easy fix at first.

The booklet is tiny, if you can imagine.
It has my work experience, references, portfolio pieces...

This is my "leave behind portfolio" piece, cover letter, and resume all together.

Postcard-y Awesomeness Pt 2

This is a postcard for an online friend of mine. It's his character he's made through the years, chibi-fied. Hopefully he enjoys it!

I actually hand drew it first, then went in and pen tooled over it. I'm quite pleased with the results.

And now, it's 4:30am, I'm tired.

Postcard-y Awesomeness

I made this in Illustrator today as a tentative Christmas postcard for a friend in another state.

Gothy me and him. I'm hoping he won't figure it out until it gets there, but we'll see!

I'm so proud of myself today. Hehe. Yay!

And 2 Gift Ideas

I'll also offer two awesome gift ideas...

A record bowl.

Tutorial is located here. It's super easy. Takes maybe a half an hour. It's a good idea for a cheap and easy awesome gifts. Records are available at Goodwill and Salvation Army for cheap!

And this super cute, awesome ornament takes MAYBE 15 minutes. At most. And it's easy.

This tutorial is located at one of my favorite sites ever... Craftster. (That's the link for the actual tutorial, by the way... Not just Craftster.)

Seriously, two cheap gifts that take like 20 minutes to make yourself. And who doesn't like awesomely handmade stuff? The older you get, the more special it is...

Homework for Corporate Identity... "Create logos for art movements you'd see in a fantasy museum of yours."
These are obviously the color versions.

Top row: Abstract Expressionism, De Stijl, Digital Art

Bottom row: Pop Art, Minimalism, and Art Nouveau

And, of course, the black and white versions. Same order. Same stuff. Just not colored.

I like them. ^_^

And I'm enjoying listening to some Dr. Steel! <3 Steampunky goodness...

It IS a Craft Blog After All!

I bet you all were becoming doubtful, weren't you? Since it seems I constantly post things due to a theme. (Or a challenge to myself... >.> )

Well, I have been crazy busy with a swap package AND Christmas stuff. (And homework...) So the swap stuff will wait until she receives/opens and the Christmas will wait until after Christmas (obviously...)... The homework stuff will wait until I have something I'm dying to show you. Lately my work has sucked. (Mainly due to having no inspiration and motivation to do any of it...)

But I did do a tiny thing for myself!
I hate buying new clothes, especially since I'm always broke lately... So I took some of my bigger, older guy shirts and reconstructed them to be more... Figurative. And lovely.

So... Voila!

What you see to your left is like less than a half an hour of work. I don't have a sewing machine and was afraid of utterly screwing it up. So instead I did the "frilled edges" up the side to give it more figure. And cut it to an off-the-shoulder type shirt, without decimating the logo on the front. I thought it was cute, considering I've never done any sort of Frankenstein t-shirt project...

I love this shirt too much to not wear it.
And now I don't look like a boy with it...

RIP you're dead to me
You tore out my Frankenstein heart...

Holy Crafting Spree, Batman!

Don't you love it when you just suddenly start cranking out awesome stuff? Seriously, there's probably no better feeling than holding something you've created and finished. Ahhh... I experienced that feeling a few times this weekend!

I typically don't make myself things because I always feel selfish, but I saw this hat pattern and HAD to have one!
Also, the necklaces... The pentacle is from my best friend Corey. And the stones are from my grandpa. Apparently my great grandmother came to him in a dream and told him she wanted me to have them. She got them from a friend; he had found, smoothed, and wire-wrapped them into a necklace for her.

Finished a cute "Indie" hat Saturday night while watching Bitichin' Kitchen.

(It's good! Pin-up-y, psychobilly, hot-ness with good recipes! And it's located on the Cooking Channel. Not to be confused with the Food Network.)

Here's one made with an awful piece of soft fuzzy brown fabric and BUTTONS. There's like... 70 white/clear/opaque buttons.

I enjoyed this, since I probably can't put up a Christmas tree this year... =(

However, I was inspired by one I found on the internet. I don't have the link for it, but I did save the photograph for inspiration.

Their's is much better of course. But I can't wait to do my own kinda fall-ish one.  (But winter was closer.)

This is my final upload tonight. I should have two more for you tomorrow! ;)

I made these on Thursday, October 28th to hand out to class on Friday... I love me some Halloween treats.

Instructions on making can be found here. (Along with better pictures!)

Mah Halloween Outfit!

A long, long time ago I wrote on here that I was going to be Misty from Pokemon. And I was. And I felt stupid. But it was fun none the less.

I'll lose 100lbs for next year... So I won't be a fatass Misty.

And the final resistance... A cute action shot!

Websites Strike Again!

Well, I had to do this for Electronic Design, Tuesday morning class. I'm not done by any means. But I do like to show my progress...
I don't like the picture placements in pages 4 and 5.
I also can't think of a single photo for pages 1 and 3.
I may add the email, facebook, and twitter icons to the right of this... I'm not sure yet.

3 - Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”or click

Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4 - Use Photoshop or something else awesome to put it all together.

Bear Nuts! (No Really)

I present to you, the BEAR NUTS MAGAZINE SPREAD!
Woooo! It's not too bad looking. =D

Tah-dah! Page two!

And the final, page three. Tah-dah.... I kinda like this page the most. Probably because of the gratuitous amount of Tanked!

You need to check out Bear Nuts. It's by Alison Acton and it's fabulous! It's hilarious. =D It will put a smile on your face, for sure.

And don't worry... I fixed the attrocious double-space issue by shrinking my font down. I mean, just imagine there being text where's there's not right now... =P

Oh hey, remember me mentioning I won Mrs. B's Voodudes contest? He arrived today!
He is my Prosperity voodude, created with gold and green (colors associate with prosperity) and was stuffed with a penny (for luck), cinnamon (for prosperity), and yeast (for growing prosperity)! He's sporting a fashionable rune, "Fehu", which represents prosperity as well.

(I'm still trying to figure out why her note says "I hope your mom likes him," but... I still can't figure it out.)

He immediately was placed on my in-progress altar. I'm still working on it. It's clean, but it's changing location and the cloth needs to be trimmed out and cut to size... Plus the candles and stones need to actually make sense.
It should be finished in a day or two, but we'll see.

Sorry, but this is what I actually turned into Corporate Identity class.
I had a "wave", since I was impressed with either of the two I actually posted. This is what I came up with at 10:30 the morning of class. Not bad.
Much better than what I had been planning to turn in.
And I found out I only needed one. Damn.

Happy Birthday to Meeeeee!

Yes, sheaple... Sheep + people thanks to Neil Patrick Harris.

Steven on the way to the orchard/petting zoo!

Porquipine at the petting zoo at the orchard.

Steven made a friend at the petting zoo. Donkey!

In case you weren't aware, my birthday was today. (Saturday, the 16th.) It's been a lot of fun.
I came home early. My sister did my nails. Sleep after some American Dad on a brand new air mattress my parents bought for us.
Today we woke up. Hung out with dad, eventually mom woke up. So eventually we went to an orchard near Richmond. Daughtery's. I forgot they had a petting zoo! It was  $1! Totally worth it. We walked around. Peacocks, roosters, porcupine, ferret, koi fish, GIANT pigs, foxes, rabbits, and a friggin' ZEBRA.
I ripped my sleeve trying to jump for a picture of the Zebra. Seriously. -_-
Mom buys me and Steven a caramel apple and we're off!
Food is next. Little Sheba's in Richmond. The waiter was a bitch, but the sandwich was freaking AMAZING. I'll never doubt hamburger, mozzarella, and pizza sauce. Om nom nom...
Next out was Hastings. They completely changed EVERYTHING. Now they have comics, posters, action figures... Less of a book store, more of a waste of space. -_- Unimpressed! But Steven did buy me a $2 'The Littlest Zombie' comic. So amazing. And he bought himself a Betty Boop bobblehead, that doesn't really bobble. At all. More pose-y.
And then we hit the flea market. Mom bought me a special gift there. A ring with an amber stone with elephants on either side. =) And then fooooooood. And stuff for the apartment. Looooooove flea markets.

Then we came home. Emily came home around the same time... Went over to my grandma on my mom's side. Saw her "pet cow." (It happens in this family. A lot.)
Next went to my grandpa on my mom's side. Talked about stuff. Lots of stuff.
Like I want to get into the groove of how I used to be, but I seem to be unable to embrace it. I used to be good at witchcraft, it came naturally. I was awesome at it. Now, I can't do anything. I'm so full of doubt with myself. I can't seem to be able to let go. -_- He tells me I'm unable to let go. I need to meditate and find myself. Poo.

So I leave you with my family (plus Steven) singing me happy birthday. And my dad bought me Toy Story 3 cupcakes for a cake! Om nom...

As Promised...

Page one of the Bearded Dragon booklet.
Handmade logo was a requirement... This is one of my better ones.

Pages 2 and 3.
General information of the bearded dragon... Just general. More of a "Hello, they rock. They have these requirements. They come with personalities. Oh! And there are different colors."

Pages 4 and 5, personality and housing.
Yeah, that's a majorly pissed off beardie. It happens. It's usually funny.

Dietary needs are UBER important to a dragon. They need greens, veggies, and fruits. They need calcium supplements. They also need a good amount of protein. (Yeah, insects.)

And below is the final page... Nothing too special.

Freakin' Zebra had it Out For Me...

This is logo A... The concept of this was to "pick" an animal (I was absent, so I got zebra due to the teacher wanting me to have it.) and make logos for it. I like the simplistic cartoony-ness of this, but my "zebra stripes" suck. A lot. So much suckage...

This is logo A with color. Not much better. Puke green is doing nothing for it...

And this is logo B. Not much better. I'm trying to figure out why the eye is so much darker compared to the rest of it...
And this is logo B with puke green color... I kinda like this one of them all.
